The Epstein School's Caring Community: Yagoda Family To Be
Featured In Documentary On Ch11, Ch2 and Ch5

The arms of  The Epstein School's caring community (Kehillat Shalom) extend far and wide into the local community and even internationally. Epstein students and parents continually demonstrate community spirit and dedication both within the school and in the greater community at large.

The Yagoda family, mother Cheryl, father Phil, son Ian Yagoda and twin daughters Arly and Sophie Yagoda (4th graders at The Epstein School) are being featured as part of a healthcare special documentary on 11-Alive (WXIA), (WSB-TV) Channel 2 and Fox 5 (WAGA) because their son, Ian has a brain tumor and has been regularly treated by doctors and healthcare professionals at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The Yagoda family has also worked tirelessly in their efforts to fund several labs, one of which will help brain surgeons differentiate healthy brain cells from cancerous ones, through the use of certain dies.  That lab will be located at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and has been made possible by the Yagoda’s works with the IFF Foundation (Ian’s Friends Foundation), a foundation begun when the Yagoda’s son Ian had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

The segment will air on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 12:30 pm WSB-TV,
Channel 2
, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 7:30 pm on WXIA-TV, Channel 11, and Saturday December 26, 2009 at 12:30 pm on Fox 5 WAGA- Channel 5.

Ian’s Friend’s Foundation (IFF) is a non-profit organization committed to funding the support of pediatric brain tumor research. They will accomplish their mission by undertaking and supporting initiatives at research institutions around the country that focus on developing new therapeutic methodologies for the treatment of pediatric brain tumors. IFF seeks to identify projects that are dedicated to overcoming and abating pediatric brain cancer.
