North Springs Students Launch Shop with a Spartan! Supported by the Sandy Springs Police Department and Bank of North Georgia to benefit Future Spartans from Ison Springs Elementary School
North Springs Charter High School Spartans last week launched Shop with a Spartan, a student run initiative spear headed by students Kensha Mars and Charles Ekpe with the support of Lt. David Roskin of the Sandy Springs Police Department. Shop with a Spartans' goal is to raise at least $3,000 to take at least 30 economically disadvantaged children from Ison Springs Elementary School on a special shopping trip, Saturday, December 12. The young future Spartans from Ison Springs will get to experience the joy of giving as well as receiving because they in turn must spend over half of their $100 on other family members.

Thanks to generous donations this week from Bank of North Georgia, the American Law Enforcement Network, and The Shield Foundation of Georgia, Inc. Shop with a Spartan has reached over one third of its' goal.
Students are raising funds through Team 5; 5 students trying to raise $100 per team, selling "Giving Trees", fresh Georgia grown Fraser Fir trees through November 24, 2009; and sponsoring a dance on December 4, 2009. Proceeds from all efforts will go to Shop with a Spartan. Students plan to continue fundraising through the school year so that future Spartans can be taken on a back to school shopping trip next year as well.
Patterned, in part, after a program initiated in Cobb County several years ago by Lt. David Roskin, Shop with a Spartan is conceived as a legacy project beginning in Fulton County at North Springs and continuing here while moving out to another area high school and elementary school in 2010.
