Demand Congress Safeguard Our National Security
Written By Stephen Oppenheimer, DDS

As Citizens, it's time we demand Congress safeguard America’s National Security and economy, both of which are at grave risk due to our failure to have adopted a long term energy policy.  Since the first oil crisis in 1973, America’s reliance on foreign oil has grown from 24% to 70%.   More deeply troubling is the fact many of the countries upon which we rely for oil are antithetic to America and operate as part of a price fixing monopoly, the results of which are punitive to growing nations and devastating to developing nations.   Congress must act for the sake of America and other FREE nations. Energy policy must no longer be treated as a political football.

NOW is time for accountability and ACTION.

To break the oil monopoly, a choice of fuels and vehicles capable of running on multiple fuels must become widely available to consumers.   This technology already exists and costs about $100 – 200 per vehicle.

Both the Senate and House of Representatives have recently introduced bipartisan sponsored bills entitled The Open Fuel Standard Act of 2008 which would provide by 2012, 50% of new automobiles be flex-fuel vehicles and beginning in 2013, 80% of new automobiles would be flex fuel vehicles.

Please contact both your US Senators and Congressman to urge their sponsorship and support of S.3303 Open Fuel Standard Act in the Senate and HR 6559:  Open Fuel Standard Act in the House of Representatives.

Georgians, please note of the importance of our action as both Senators Chambliss and Isakson are in the Bipartisan “Group of 10” outlining a possible compromise Bill.
