25 Epstein 7th Graders Gets Top Ranks In
Duke University’s Talent Identification Program

4 Students Reach Grand Level:

The Epstein School is pleased to announce that out of the 25 seventh graders who qualified to participate in the 2009 Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP), 100% scored high enough on the ACT test to receive State Level recognition and to be eligible to participate in their summer programs.  Duke University’s Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation, representing participation from 6,000 junior high and middle schools in the Duke TIP 16-state region and identifies academically talented 7th graders based on standardized test scores.

The 25 students who will receive state level recognition are:

Daniel Abravanel, Louis Berch, Jonah Blumenthal, Steven Burgess, Samuel Durham, Daniela Friedman, Rebecca Friedman, Samuel Gaillard, Tal Greber, Max Greenberg, Mallory Harris, Molly Hirsh, Sarah Jacobson, Samuel Kirsh, Zachary Leitz, Joshua Levine, Ariana Lewis, Sydney Perloe, Elena Rothenberg, Olivia Sachs, Elliot Salzburg, Rachel Schwartz, Jamie Shatz, Mara Siegel, Aaron Simon and David Zarge.

Four Epstein students scored so high they will receive national recognition for reaching “Grand Level,” and will be honored at the Grand Recognition Ceremony held at the Duke University campus; students receive a medallion as an acknowledgement of their achievement.

The four students who reached Grand Level and will receive national recognition are: Mallory Harris, Ariana Lewis, Rachel Schwartz and David Zarge.

“We are very proud of the extraordinary achievement of these students. This is a wonderful reflection on the high-caliber of our students, exceptional academic quality of an Epstein education and the commitment of our professional educators.  The ACT test, more than the SAT, reflects the learning that goes on in the classroom and is a clear indicator that Epstein students are very well-prepared to enter the high schools and colleges of their choice,” stated Head of School Stan Beiner.
