Riverwood 2009 Graduation

Riverwood International Charter School’s graduation was held May 23, 2009 at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church in Alpharetta for the 240 Class of 2009 graduates.

Special presentations at graduation included Leah Dodell, valedictorian, and Liya Lomsadze salutatorian; Blais Hickey, Atlanta Journal Cup; Natalie Papillion, Faculty Cup; and Elijah Philpotts, Principal’s Cup.

Eddie Echols
recognized this class as having 68 Hurricane Katrina and Rita students from the Gulf Coast their freshman year, in the Fall of 05.
He recognized Mary Kate Olsen as a student who came from New Orleans, immersed herself in the school performing arts program, and was the one who graduated from Riverwood. She will return to New Orleans to attend Loyola University, her mother’s alma mater.

Prinicipal Eddie Echols entertained the graduates and their families singing Bridge Over Troubled Water. The Riverwood Singers and other senior musicians sang the Star Spangled Banner and It Takes a Village, while senior Riverwood String Orchestra members presented the prelude.

Special guest Fulton County Schools Area Superintendent Leonard Box “certified” the graduates.
